VULCANO ISLAND
Welcome to Vulcano
the abode of Hephaestus
Vulcano is the island of the Aeolian archipelago closest to Sicily. Composed of four small volcanoes (Lentia, Piano, Vulcanello and Fossa), it is one of the least extensive among the Aeolian Islands. Simply hire a bicycle to explore it far and wide and enjoy all its splendour. Vulcano is a beautiful example of balance between nature and human presence. Thanks to the wise intervention of its inhabitants, over the years, the territory of Vulcano has been shaped and improved without damaging the imprint of nature.
A holiday at the Eros Hotel in Vulcano will give you unforgettable views right from the docking at the port with a view of the cliff. You can experience the benefits of sulphurous waters and thermal muds or to try out trekking sessions on the craters and tackle routes that will lead you to the top of the volcano. When you return to the hotel, you will be pampered by the comfort and 4-star services of the Eros Hotel, the boutique hotel on the island of Vulcano.
Climbing to the Crater
A challenging course awaits you, sometimes strenuous, during which you will smell the sulfur in your nostrils and the volcanic sand in your shoes. But the effort will be amply repaid by the wonderful sight you will enjoy reaching the summit of the Vulcano Crater. The spectacle offered by Nature is so beautiful to look like unreal, so exciting to take your breath away.
Climbing towards the top of Vulcano, it is a succession of colours and scents: from the green of the vegetation, dominated by the brooms, to the reddish tufa. Once at the top, on the Crater della Fossa, at about 390 meters above sea level, it is time to have a stop to enjoy a panoramic view of all seven of the Aeolian Islands and to hear the breath of the Volcano. Here you will live a dreamlike atmosphere that is difficult to describe.
As well as the climb, even descending becomes a more unique and rare experience. Descent at sunset, when the sun with its rays modifies the colours of the sky, the sea and the underlying landscapes, is an experience in the experience by itself. Returning to the Eros Hotel, you can rest and dissolve the effort of climbing, sipping a glass of Malvasia delle Eolie in the garden or by the pool.
The magical places of Vulcano
Like all the Aeolian Islands, Vulcano is studded with marvellous beaches and rocky foreshortenings where you can reach by land or sea and take a dip in pristine waters. The volcanic origin of the island's dark rocks creates a wonderful contrast to the cobalt blue sea. Among the most characteristic seaside areas of Vulcano are the Spiaggia delle Acque Calde, the Spiaggia delle Sabbie Nere and the Spiaggia del Gelso (Cannitello and the Spiaggia dell'Asino). The Spiaggia delle Acque Calde, reachable by direct and private access for the guests of the Eros Hotel, is unique in its kind thanks to the presence of fumaroles, which come out from the rock faults and heat the water.
Another unique place in the world, together with the Grotta del Cavallo, is the Piscina di Venere, one of the most suggestive landscapes of Vulcano. Also called Bagno delle Vergini, it is located in the western part of the island. These are shallow tufa and basalt basins, bathed by a crystalline sea, with turquoise reflections. A natural paradise, reachable by boat, which resembles the shape of an amphitheatre, where you can dive into pampering yourself with the freshness of the sea, putting aside every thought.
